Q. Do I need permission to use the TEIQue in my research (paper, project, thesis, etc.).
A. Provided there is no commercial usage, TEIQue instruments can be used for academic or medical research purposes without permission. Please do not email us to request permission for usage in academic or medical research, as this is unecessary. However, any commercial or quasi-commercial or indeed any usage other than for academic or medical research purposes of any TEIQue instrument or related materials is strictly prohibited, unauthorized and illegal. In addition, we do not allow or provide any type of individualized feedback. For such purposes and for all commercial applications, click here.
Q. What is the range for TEIQue scores?
A. TEIQue scores (facet, factor, and global) have been rescaled to vary between 1 (minimum) and 7 (maximum), with a theoretical average of 3.5.
Q. How do I know what is a high, average, or low score?
A. If you are a research user, you can calculate descriptive statistics on your dataset to establish what is a high, average, or low score in your particular sample. We do not provide free access to national or international norms (which would allow you to establish how each participant stands in relation to a population). We also do not provide free access to feedback reports for research participants. This information is not necessary for research purposes (Kline, 2001; Nunnally & Bernstein, 1994), but is commercially available through www.teique.com.
Q. Can you score my personal questionnaire and provide feedback for me?
A. We do not score single questionnaires nor do we provide feedback free of charge. You need to purchase a feedback report from www.teique.com for such purposes.
Q. Is there a standard reference I can use for all TEIQue materials?
A. Petrides, K. V. (2009). Psychometric properties of the Trait Emotional Intelligence Questionnaire. In C. Stough, D. H. Saklofske, and J. D. Parker, Advances in the assessment of emotional intelligence. New York: Springer. DOI: 10.1007/978-0-387-88370-0_5 [pdf]. Note that, at present, there is no publication covering all TEIQue forms and materials.
Q. Do I have to use your demographics form in my study?
A. You need not use in your study our demographics form. The demographics do not affect the scoring of the instruments.
Q. I would like to use only certain specific facets/factors of a TEIQue instrument. Can you please send me the relevant items?
A. We cannot support customized usage of the TEIQue instruments. If you cannot use the full forms of the TEIQue in your research, we recommend you consider the corresponding short forms.
Q. I have checked the information on the website and FAQ section and have a question/request for information/comment, etc. Who should I contact?
A. For commercial queries, including orders of the technical manual, please email admin@teique.com. For comments, please use the message boards. Please avoid emailing us unless it is essential. We remain committed to site visitors and will make every effort to respond to email messages promptly, however, without guarantee due to the volume of correspondence. Thank you for your understanding.

Dear Dr Petrides,
I have a question regarding the scale. the scale of 1 indicate strongly disagree and scale of 7 indicate strongly agree. Then what does the scale 2,3,4,5 and 6 stand for? I need to include the detail of the scale in my ethical form.
I hope to hear from you soon.
Thank you

These points of the Likert are not explicitly labelled in the TEIQue.

Engine working correctly – we do not provide further assistance due to huge overload.

Hi Dino et al.!
First of all, thank you for providing the scoring engine which seems to be a very nice and pragmatic way to score the the TEIQue-SF (in my case) for the purpose of my dissertation. One thing I struggle with and have not been able to find an answer to is how global scores of Trait EI are derived/calculated. Farnia et al. (2018), for example, report a Mean = 155.25 and SD = 19.38 for Trait EI in their paper (data collected with the TEIQue-SF). Where can I find this information? Or is it maybe as simple as calculating the product of the four factors? I would very much value this info.
Thanks for any support that might be possible (I’m also willing to order the book, but time/a deadline is an issue here, unfortunately).
Best wishes,
M

Some researchers do not divide the total TEIQue scores by the total number of items. This does not affect the subsequent analyses. The scoring key for the TEIQue-SF is available in the website.

I have had difficulty sending my file to you.
Is there something wrong at my end or might there have been a change in the e-mail address? I keep receiving a response stating that my e-mail is undeliverable.

admin@teique.com email was down for a while, but now operational. Thank you.

Good luck

I would like to know if the TEIQue-SF can be used online ( instead of distributing the hard copies) for collecting data from a large group of university students, for research purposes? If acceptable, do I need to take permission for the same?
admin
It can but requires permission from the Prof. Please request directly.

Hello!
I am using the TEIQue-SF measure for my undergraduate thesis and am wondering if it is necessary to purchase the manual for the use of analysing my data. Would you be able to clarify this? If it is not necessary, can you direct me to the part of the website that explains how to analyze?
admin
No it is not necessary to purchase the manual for such purposes. Please feel free to explore the website and its contents.

Hello,
I am using the TEIQue-SF measure as part of my thesis, and I’m using a service called survey monkey to collect participants. Am I able to upload (send to them) to them the TEIQue-SF so they can distribute it to the participants they collect?

Please write to admin@teique.com to request permission. Thank you

Hello Professor,
I wanted to know can sample size effect the total value of Cronbach alphas?

Hi,
I would like to ask you what is the connection between the questions and facets?
I mean what is the connection of each question to each facet?
Thank you!
admin
The scoring key for the TEIQue-SF is available on the website.

Hello, is it right to assume that the higher the score, the higher the emotional intelligence? Thank you
admin
Hiogher scores indicate higher trait emotional intelligence.

I am a Professor in a counseling program and we are considering using the TEIQue as a part of our admissions process to help us determine the emotional intelligence level for potential students. We are not planning to use it for research or commercial use. Would this be something that would be an ethical use of the assessment, and do we need to get permission?
admin
This would count as commercial usage from our perspective. Thank you.

I have a question about the scores that come back – are they in the same order as the sheet that was uploaded? I am doing some within-subjects analysis, and need to be able to connect score values across multiple administrations to individual subjects. Would I mess up the scoring by including an identifier for each participant in the spreadsheet?
admin
Yes to both questions.
Thank you

my question is what value should be used if run correlation of four factors with some other variables. Is it have to be the CRONBACH APHA result that I obtain through london psycometric lab?

When scoring the TEIQue-SF using the website, what are the statistics that are provided? Mean, median etc?
admin
No statistics are provided. Only raw scores for further statistical analyses.

hello, good day to you.
I am a student researcher from the Philippines and I wanted to ask what is the score interpretation for each score mean? does 1 – 2.5 mean means low Ei, 2.6 -5 mean means average, and mean 5.1-7 means high?
thank you so much, please write me back.
